My perimenopause story

Because we all have one…..

When I left my job at corporate I finally had time to do things for ME! Which included listening to podcasts. I was out for a walk listening to my favorite - Mel Robbins and she had on a guest Dr. Mary Claire Haver to talk about menopause. At the time I was 41 and almost changed the episode. “I am too young for this, I don’t need to listen to this now.” But I stayed and quickly realized how wrong I was.

Spoiler alert - I was NOT too young for perimenopause. Listening to the episode gave me so many “a-ha” moments of my own. My new found quick temper, my anxiety while driving, my lower belly pooch, my super itchy skin - was this perimenopause?!?!

Not only that - I had pretty much lost joy and excitement in doing the things I loved. I knew I wasn’t depressed but I just didn’t feel like ME anymore! So down the meno-verse rabbit hole I went to arm myself with information so I could empower my own health journey.

But I was the health “expert” of my friends - the one they came to with questions. So if I didn’t know this stuff who were they going to be able to go to? So from that moment forward I knew this had to be my mission - to help myself on my own journey and start helping other women who were confused or maybe even unknowing that they might be in this too!

We can’t avoid going through menopause - that indeed is a part of life. But suffering is not. I am here to remind women that we don’t need to just “survive” these years. And actually - with EDUCATION and EMPOWERMENT we truly can take charge of our health and THRIVE!
